Another DC "Pop-Up"

The G40 Art Summit, facilitated by the Microwave Project and sponsored by Vitaminwater, is a site specific installation art "micro" gallery. I got a last look at the show, which is closing tonight. I liked the sculptures best and found a broad range of work--from hanging grey metal mesh decorated with pink plastic bows, to painted and stacked hand cut paper attached to the wall on panel, to handmade bricks stacked in geometric forms on a pallet (which reminded me of a challenging exercise I did last year drawing a pile of bricks), to a cloud made of Styrofoam strips hanging from the ceiling.

Pop-ups provide creative opportunities for collaboration between artists and businesses while making use of vacant urban space, promoting the arts, and supporting the economy.

This certainly seems to be an environmental statement as well...
